What’s a tarry?

  • The Macone family previously owned Millbrook Tarry. Paul Macone tells us that his Aunt Helen named Millbrook Tarry. The Millbrook piece is obvious (because the Millbrook runs along the property). Helen wanted to have a name for the property that wasn't a typical name (like “Plaza”). Because of her English heritage, she chose the word “Tarry”, which is an English term for a place for people to gather, a place where people congregate and get together. It is also a "destination".
